South African finding work in Oz - 2007/03/18 00:23
Hi all.

I'm a 20year old South African guy. I am investigating moving to Australia and finding work as a pilot there. If anybody could please advise me on the situation there regarding the availability of work and whether I would be welcome there. I hear there are very few low time jobs but more in the higher hour bracket.

I have a 3 year B.Com Aviation Management degree and a CPL, under 500hours total time but next week with a Beech 1900 and King Air 200 rating. I will also be flying a Cessna 340 on a few charters, getting my ATPL exams and instructors rating.

Other aeries I have on my license are the C210turbo and I have ferried a Diamond 40 and 42 Twinstar from Austria to SA. During this trip I met two great Ozi pilots ferrying for Fugro.

The situation in SA seems to be getting worse and worse. I was always one of those people who thought it was just a phase and I criticised fellow South Africans who left for Australia, New Zealand or Canada. I realise that I need to start looking around and I thought it would be best to start with Australia. Thanks in advance for any help.
