I know exactly how you feel...same age, probably the same financial standing, same "I must do this" drive. I am learning in the Warrior and love it. I originally started in a Cessna 152, however being over 6 foot, I didn't fit in this aircraft very well. I also felt that the Cessna was happy to remain in the flare from threshold to threshold. I find the extra weight of the Warrior seems to plant itself on the runway just nicely.
At the moment, I'm not contemplated going beyond GFPT. This is due to finances, not desire. But if I win lotto one day...............
Hey Fantastic to know, I'm not alone in my quest LOL I did like flying the warrior but because I'm used to the little T6 Air Tourer, it was a big change. Not to mention that the Air Tourer is a central stick control as opposed to the steering column in the piper. Mate I know what you mean about the finances it s bloody expensive hey. But I guess now that I'm started I want to go too PPL, I think it will help my airman-ship over all and make my flying a safer and fuller experience. However it might mean I need to consolidate financially after GFPT level then start the PPL later. I had a lesson on Sunday just passed great conditions and better landings but they are still a struggle to me. I'm just happy that I'm still improving at least in my approaches. I’m confidently hopeful of a break through any time now. What I am finding is that my approach is affecting the landing. I’m often too high on approach or coming back to the centerline after over shooting the turn onto finals. This gives my already over loaded brain more things to focus on. LOL. I sure all you seasoned pilots laugh at this but just now it all seems so over whelming. However I have patient and positive instructors, I’m sure I’ll get there.
