Re:Col Rodgers call for GA summit meeting. - 2006/07/24 09:24
All the talk in the world from well intentioned folk who are on the fringe and don't own aircraft will amount to nothing, whomever is involved in this must be owners of General Aviation aircraft, anyone else is a bystander trying for personal political gain.
Until CASA has the rogue element of ex RAAF who have never owned an aircraft rooted out there can be no improvement in General Aviation.
Capital funds have never been as affordable and easy to get as they are today in Australia, the economy is strong, money is sloshing around inside lending institutions looking for places to earn interest.
Tax effective depreciation is available for investors.
Investors and Banks are frightened by the fickle and unpredictable behaviour of CASA and therefore the investment in General Aviation is stalled. Banks and other lenders will not entertain any "Industy" where there is significant uncertainty.
The nervous attitude is not about the possibility of a crash or similar safety relared incident, these can be factored into lending through proper risk management strategies and financially insulated by insurance. The nervous attitude is about any emergent business being shut down by a capricious regulator who is captive to internal fiefdoms of nasty people.
