Re:Relevance - 2006/06/30 17:23
On another part of this forum I asked Brian Harward, "what was the point" of renewing my AOPA membership. He has not responded on that thread so I continue here;

When AOPA test their own scruples, I may think about rejoining. In the meantime, I can't abide duplicitous arrangements that allow a new student pilot to be elected to the board of directors when the Articles of Association prevent his doing so.

I believe this person "HAS EVERY RIGHT" to sit on the Board, however, the Articles (36, including dot point 1), prevent him from doing so unless by absolute decree of the board. So much for democracy.

This however, would eliminate myself or a good many others from joining because there is a Cadre within that would, by denial of natural justice, eliminate our applications because they simply hate our guts and fear a return to the board.

I doubt anyone could be bothered with testing this anomoly. I certainly couldn't be bothered.

One of this Cadre, lied to me when he said he was resigning, but "not before Bill Hamilton goes" and he still sits on the board after Bill has gone as a gross pretender, vastly responsible for the ASIC debacle, the ADSB debacle and a few others that in essence were an impost to the members, yet he claimed a victory for only costing us less than what he estimated with security locking devices. (Great stuff).

There are only a few instrument rated pilots on the board let alone anyone qualified to speak fluently on ADSB. Dissent is normally censored.

I am of the opinion that the recent past president was led by one individual by his political gullibility and code of friendship. It disturbs me that this same individual saw fit to give newspaper interviews under the banner of his title of responsibility and mateship that could jeopardise outcomes not yet in the Coroners Court pertaining to the president's fatal accident.

I am also disgusted that a new director gave his hospitality to this past president and then promptly turned on me.

Read into that what you will.

I am also disgusted that this person appears to be a VFR pilot who hires other people's aircraft speaks with rabid authority on the merits of ADSB when there may have been a cost impost on aircraft owners who represent a vast majority of the AOPA membership. (myself until recently, included).

There is another member of the board who saw fit to sit out a kangaroo court when he could have prevented it knowing, and holding an apology from someone other than the accused. Such is politics when the normally good are corrupted.

When they get their house in order, I may think about rejoining, but I would imagine only after a 100 person petition to offset the hate within.

Couldn't be bothered really.

BTW: Bill Hamilton was promised a life membership by the grinning like an idiot VP when he resigned. It didn't happen.

Sort that out also.
