I am amazed that nobody has challenged Andrew Kerans selective interpretation of the election results by asking him how many voting papers were returned

Quote: "A total of 1672 votes were received, giving this result the largest mandate in some years. Thank you members." (Andrew Kerans AOPA VP). No mention of how many bothered to vote.

At the last elections in 2004, 497 ballot papers were returned for a total of 2391 votes received giving a much larger mandate based on this thinking.

I also note that Mike Smith went without a profile in the April AOPA magazine which would have put him at a considerable disadvantage.

Before anyone gets out the old "anti AOPA and anti GA" drum give a thought to who I am questioning here, it's not the organisation, but the constant drain on credibility when the public are fed misleading "spin" by some Directors.

The new board will need to address this before any analysis of future membership trends which have gone down from 3,757 in 2004 to 2,985 as at 31st December 2005 despite the "spin" to the contrary.

This year, which we are alredy half way through, will see the continuation of membership decrease (as I predicted some 12 months ago due to regulatory madness and duly ignored), unless a plan is hatched to try to arrest it. Bull$hit won't fix it.

The administrator has disabled public write access.
